Start with the channel

A wholesale assortment and a supermarket shelf have different constraints. Describe the customer you supply, the country, the price positioning and the categories you want to develop. This gives the product conversation a useful starting point.

Choose the role of each product

Separate everyday replenishment products from specialist care and fragrance additions. For laundry, that could mean a core detergent, a fabric softener and a specialist treatment. For kitchen care, begin with the surfaces and cleaning occasions you want to cover.

Compare formats before counting SKUs

Compare net content, bottle or pouch format, carton packing and the space a product requires. A pack size alone does not describe its shipping efficiency or retail fit. Ask for carton dimensions and weight before making a logistics comparison.

Write down what a sample must demonstrate

Define your own sample review criteria, such as pack handling, fragrance preference, label legibility and performance on the intended materials. Evaluate products using the agreed usage instructions. Do not infer product performance from a catalogue image.

Send a brief your supplier can answer

Include the selected SKUs, expected quantity per SKU, destination country, branding preference and desired timing. Mark which items are essential and which are open to alternatives. Request a quotation that identifies exactly what is included.
